Facing Your Past
Let’s face it, your kids don’t want most of the things you hold dear, or are holding onto in case you may one day need it. Getting rid of your junk now with a full house clean out means less work down the line – for them – and more peace of mind for you – now.
Better Health
Dr. Uma Gavani, an allergy and asthma specialist says, “The more stuff you have in your home, the harder it is to clean.”
Cluttered areas increase the potential for dust, pet dander and mold to build up. Areas that have carpets, upholstery, or bedding, when not clean, can trigger breathing difficulties, lead to a decrease in air quality or lead to airborne diseases. And areas that are susceptible to dampness, namely basements and garages, when filled with clutter, can worsen allergies and asthma.
Less Stress and Fatigue
“When you live in a messy home, you are subconsciously reminded of work that needs to be finished and visually, your eyes do not have a place to rest,” says Dr. Rian Rowles, a psychiatrist in Oak Lawn, IL.
He goes on to say, “Too much clutter can cause tremendous stress and fatigue. When things take longer to find, or can’t be found, stress levels rise, and so does your risk for illness.”
Get the Bug Out!
Ants, king-size crickets, rats, mice, cockroaches, termites, bed bugs, spiders, millipedes, silver fish, centipedes, all have one thing in common. They love clutter of all kinds. Cardboard, junk, boxes, old furniture, means more ideal, warm damp places for these critters to hide.
Pest control can alleviate some of the pests, but doing a full house clean out can do much more. Dumping some garbage, sweeping your floors and regular vacuuming will also help.
